Each day unveils a new chapter in your journey through this majestic landscape, complete with comfortable lodging, delightful dining, and intriguing snippets of trivia that bring the park’s history and ecology to life.

Day 1: Welcoming the Giants

Morning: Arrive in Three Rivers, a charming gateway town to Sequoia National Park. Check into a Mountain View Yurt House, nestled just 2 miles away from the awe-inspiring Sequoia National Park.  Fuel up with a hearty breakfast at the Ol Buckaroo, known for its locally sourced ingredients and rustic charm.

Afternoon: Enter the park and begin your adventure with a scenic drive up the Generals Highway. Your first stop is the iconic Tunnel Log, where you can capture a unique photo driving through a fallen sequoia. Did you know this tree fell in 1937 due to natural causes and now serves as a memorable passage for visitors?

Evening: As the golden hour approaches, head to Moro Rock. A short but steep climb rewards you with panoramic views of the Great Western Divide. Capture the sunset hues painting the sky and granite peaks. Dinner can be enjoyed back in Three Rivers, where the Gateway Restaurant and Lodge offers dishes that reflect the local flavors.

Day 2: In the Heart of the Forest

Morning: Start your day early with a visit to the Giant Forest Museum to gain insights into the park’s history and the majestic giants it protects. Just a short walk away, marvel at the General Sherman Tree, the largest tree by volume in the world. Trivia: General Sherman is estimated to be over 2,200 years old and stands at a mighty 275 feet!

Afternoon: Enjoy a picnic lunch at Crescent Meadow, a serene, sequoia-ringed meadow often called the “Gem of the Sierra.” Explore the meadow’s perimeter trail, where you’ll find Tharp’s Log, a cabin hollowed out of a fallen sequoia by early settler Hale Tharp.

Evening: Return to Three Rivers for a casual dinner at Sequoia Cider Mill, known for its comfort food and homey atmosphere. Reflect on the day’s adventures under the starlit sky, perhaps capturing some night photography of the vast, clear heavens.

Day 3: High Sierra Trails

Morning: With an early start, embark on a hike to Tokopah Falls, a 1,200-foot waterfall cascading down granite cliffs. The trail, starting from the Lodgepole area, offers stunning views and the chance to spot wildlife. Pack a lunch from the Lodgepole Market, where fresh sandwiches and snacks are perfect for a day’s hike.

Afternoon: Spend your afternoon exploring the High Sierra Trail for breathtaking vistas and less-traveled paths. This area’s tranquility and beauty are unmatched, offering a peaceful retreat into nature.

Evening: Dine at The Peaks Restaurant at Wuksachi Lodge, where the menu is inspired by the natural surroundings and offers spectacular mountain views. Consider an evening stargazing walk; Sequoia’s elevation and clear skies provide some of the best stargazing opportunities in the country.

Day 4: Farewell to the Giants

Morning: On your final day, take a leisurely drive to Kings Canyon National Park, adjacent to Sequoia. Visit the Grant Grove to see the General Grant Tree, also known as “America’s Christmas Tree.” Enjoy a farewell breakfast or brunch at the Grant Grove Restaurant, savoring the views and flavors of the High Sierra one last time.

Afternoon: Before heading home, stop at the Foothills Visitor Center to pick up souvenirs and reflect on your journey through these ancient groves. The visitor center offers interactive exhibits and information, making it the perfect place to conclude your Sequoia adventure.
